Workshop of Job Opportunities in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa

On October 23 – 24, 2008 at Inna Nusa Dua Hotel - Bali, Deputy of Promotion and Overseas Cooperation from National Board of Protection and Placement Indonesia Workers Overseas (BNP2TKI) organized Workshop of Job Opportunities in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and South Africa. The workshop was meant to promote Indonesia workers and to understand the demand and regulation from those countries.

Many Delegates from those countries were attending the workshop, especially from Malaysia. Represent Malaysia delegates were from Malaysia Minister of State office, Immigration office, Iskandarsyah Project Manager and many Malaysian Recruitment Agency and they were accompany by Indonesia Consulate General in Johor Baru.

Delegates from Saudi Arabia were from Head of Immigration Saudi Arabia Embassy in Jakarta, Chairman of SANARCOM (Saudi Arabia Recruitment committee), and Employer from Saudi Arabia, accompany by Indonesia Ambassador for Saudi Arabia and Indonesia Consulate General in Jeddah. While Delegates from South of Africa were represent by Head of Visa Section South Africa Embassy in Jakarta, Group Five and MDS Agency and accompany by Indonesia Ambassador for South Africa.

The participants were from various institutions, beside Indonesia Manpower Agency such as Binamandiri, also from District Officials related to Manpower, Training and Education Institutions and Professional Associations.

On the first day, October 23, 2008, After speeches from many distinguish guest, the workshop official opened by Chairman of BNP2TKI, Mr. Jumhur Hidayat. The workshop was filled with keynote speaker from the delegates and continued with general discussion on the first day. The critical issue on the first day was the relatively low salary can be given by Malaysia Employer and no subsidize money given to the workers for his/her placement cost such as in other countries although the demand is very high and urgent, while referring to South Africa, mostly about qualification. There's nothing to say about Saudi Arabia, where the speech were given in Arabic and most the participant can only understand English.

The next day was business meeting for each Delegates separately with the participant who interested with that certain country. The business meeting was to get more detail and technical information.

Aside from bits and pieces from BNP2TKI organized the Workshop, I give big appreciation to BNP2TKI effort to promote Indonesia workers.
