Global Financial Crisis slams Global Workforce

As we all know United States of America and most advanced countries in the world are facing big recession nowadays which was started by the failing of sub-prime mortgage in USA and continues with various financial scandal which involved huge number of money. The world economy which has been build since 9/11 is like house of cards, economy was at peak supported by greed and big consumption, but very fragile, and once one card collapse the whole building is flatten. It is just too complicate to explain what is really happened to world economy, the simple explanation is now many people have to be laid off because not enough money to run the world economy.

In recent news, just gave information about many people lose their jobs. Big companies in the worlds such Nokia, Microsoft, GM, Ford, Freeport, Newmont, Canon, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, etc thousand up to hundred thousand workers being laid off. 50.000 Philippines overseas workers all around the world being sent back to Philippines. In China, 20 millions people out of 130 millions workforce lose their jobs as many manufacture companies are closing down. BHP, the largest mining company in Australia, just sent home 2000 of its trades-workers. Just yesterday, Sealord, biggest fishing company in New Zealand laid off 180 workers for the same reason, Global Crisis.
The world bank estimated on the first quarter of 2009, approximately 120 millions people will lose their job due to world darkest recession ever.

But experts and analysts said the world has not received the worst of economy tsunami yet. At this stage, we just seen the water being suck out, and the big tide still hanging over our head. We just running around looking for safe ground when the tsunami makes the big slams.

How about Indonesia ?
Indonesia started to feel the effect after Lebaran Day, the stock market and Rupiah plunged down to the lowest point ever. Then slowly but sure, the result of Global Crisis starts to make the effect, approximately 200.000 people loss their jobs all over Indonesia. Freeport, American based company in Papua just released its announcement to lay off 1.500 top – bottom staffs. Malaysia announced that they will send back approximately 100.000 Indonesia workers due to economic downturn. G to G program for Korea also been postponed as many factories facing bankruptcy.
Well, it is unfortunate that Binamandiri also received the big hit of the economic downturn. We just received many cancellation from our Client in Canada, Australia, South Africa and Seychelles especially for Mining and Construction workers thus also happened with most Indonesia recruitment agencies especially who concentrate to place workers to Malaysia.

What Industry survived and plunged ?
Well not all industries are effected by the Financial Crisis, but the biggest hit strikes Manufacture Industry, Mining Industry, and Construction Industry. The export and import of products all over the world are down because the decreasing of demands. The mining industry also receives big hit, all commodities prices are plunge down such as steel, copper, oil, etc, thus make infeasible economically to explore and exploit mining product. The cost to exploit the mining commodities is more expensive compare with the current market price for the mining commodities
The industries which not effected by any Financial Crisis are, Education Industry, Health Industry, Livestock Industry and Domestic Workers. People still have to go to school or to hospital if they are sick no matter crisis or not. Livestock Industry such as Fruit Plantation, Poultry Farm, Dairy Farms, and other similar sector, has to be kept process or the fruit becomes rotten, the animals die and to start new livestock industry takes quite long time while mining products can always wait until the economy boost again.

What is the advise ?
If you don't have any background in Health Industry or Livestock Industry, better for you to keep working in your current job to get more experience that is if you haven't lose your job. Once the economy boost again, certainly you can try to work overseas which obviously with high salary. Well if you did lose you job, better to try open small business similar with your previous work, the Important thing is you still using your skill. If you have background education and supported with similar work experience with your education in Health or Livestock Industry, there is still job vacancy in overseas. Binamandiri recently receive demand for Health Care Assistant from New Zealand, and we still receive for Dairy Farmer. For Domestic Workers, it is widely opened, it seems doesn't have any effect by Global Financial Crisis, the demand is still very high.

Many experts and analysts predict that probably next year the economy will back on track. All we can do, just pray and hope that every government in every country especially advance countries, can do the right thing to boost up the economy soon.
